Human Design

There is a lot to Pod'Lair theory because it is about you and the All. In the beginning, it is about figuring out your unique instrument, and observing humans as distinct instruments. Mojo Configurations can be thought of as beautiful design algorithms that all share a universal math but plug in different variables. There can only be sixteen basic configurations because of various relationships. What are those relationships?

Human Design explains the way you work and why. If you know a person is a Nai'xyy, like myself, then you also automatically know I am a Nai'xyy'zai'vyy'nyy'xai'zyy'vai. Once you accurately know what a person's Mojo is, even if you only highlight a small portion of the human design, you can extrapolate out the rest of their configuration because humans function in a manner that utilizes these universal mathematic alchemical principles. Observing only a fraction of the design in action, eyes and mouth, by default, tells you almost everything about the whole nature of the creature.

Ready for the tour of your psyche? We'll start with the Pod Powers and then explore the Hemispheres, Quadrants, Corridors, and Channels they occupy, as well as the N-pattern, Momentum, and Modulation that all humans have. See Figure 1 for a high level representation of the various components in Human Design.

The Eight Pod Powers

All humans share the eight Powers in different Sequences and Priorities, four of which are conscious and four, unconscious. Of the four Conscious Powers, the top two most define us, are the most characteristic of our innate nature, and result in greater energy and confidence when they are in use. While the third and fourth powers require more energy and effort to use, they are necessary for overall development, peaking, and activating the Unconscious Powers and beyond.

Pod’Lair can explain the diversity and complexity of an individual's psyche by accounting for the various combinations of conscious and unconscious powers, the degree to which an individual is using and developing the powers at their disposal, and how effectively the individual is using them in any given life situation. Humans who share the same Mojo are still unique individuals because they use and develop their powers differently based on a variety of factors including nature, nurture, and free-will.

You can think of the Pod Powers as the variables. Each of the Powers has certain attributes that allows it to be plugged into the algorithm in specific ways. Everyone has all eight powers but you need to know what order they come in. Once you learn your Mojo, you automatically learn: a) which of your four Powers are conscious and which four Powers are unconscious, b) within your four conscious ones, which two are on your momentum side and which two are on your modulation side,  and c) within your conscious momentum side, one will be supreme (your Source).

Psyche Hemispheres and Quadrants

Human psychic activity can be broken down into generalized locations in the psyche for ease of understanding. Thus we delineate the human psyche into:

·       Right and Left hemispheres (Adaptive & Directive, respectively)

·       Front and Rear hemispheres (Objective & Subjective, respectively)

·       Left Front Quadrant (Objective Discernment)

·       Right Front Quadrant (Objective Perception)

·       Left Rear Quadrant (Subjective Perception)

·       Right Rear Quadrant (Subjective Discernment)

Pod Powers

The eight Pod Powers of the psyche are listed below, including a brief definition, color-coding, and symbolic representation:

Vyy [**]: Concept of Reality, including Five Senses & Concrete Existence.

Vai [\\]: Concept of The Known, including Solidity & Standards of Excellence.

Zyy [#]: Concept of The System, including Strategy & Hierarchy.

Zai [=]: Concept of Perfection, including Deductive Reasoning & Calibrating.

Xyy [:+:]: Concept of The People, including Persuasion & Code of Conduct.

Xai [@]: Concept of Harmony, including Moral Compass & Empathy.

Nyy [??]: Concept of Possibility, including Sixth Sense & Playful Imagination.

Nai [//]: Concept of The Unknown, including Visioning & Abductive Reasoning.

Adaptive Powers

These Powers are freeform and open-ended. They are located in the Right Psyche Hemisphere. There are four Adaptive Powers and they are:

·       Vyy

·       Zai

·       Xai

·       Nyy

Directive Powers

These Powers are structured and closure-oriented. They are located in the Left Psyche Hemisphere. There are four Directive Powers and they are:

·       Vai

·       Zyy

·       Xyy

·       Nai

The Four Considerations

A mind that dedicates mental resources to Subjectivity, Objectivity, Perception, and Discernment is the fundamental premise of humanity's evolved design. Each consideration is necessary for human survival, mental functioning, and wholeness. These four considerations can be addressed with only the top two powers of a Mojo, which means also that the Four Considerations can be addressed in an Adaptive way or a Directive way. This is one of the many reasons that the Adaptive/Directive dichotomy is the paramount dichotomy that all others fall under.

Consideration of Objectivity

Objectivity is the ability to focus on and interact with the external world of the environment. The four powers that address the Consideration of Objectivity are: Vyy, Zyy, Xyy, and Nyy. These powers are located in the Front Psyche Hemisphere.

Consideration of Subjectivity

Subjectivity is the ability to focus on and interact with the inner world of the psyche. The powers that address the Consideration of Subjectivity are Vai, Zai, Xai, and Nai. These powers are located in the Rear Psyche Hemisphere.

Consideration of Perception

Perception Powers are focused on taking in information from the environment or the unconscious psyche. This information can be pattern-based or detail-based. The powers that humans possess that address the Consideration of Perception are Vyy, Vai, Nyy, and Nai. They are located in the Perception Corridor, which is comprised of the Rear Left and Front Right quadrants of the psyche.

Consideration of Discernment

Discernment Powers are focused on making decisions based on criteria from the environment or the psyche. These criteria can be values-based or logic-based. The powers that humans possess that address the Consideration of Discernment are Zyy, Zai, Xyy, and Xai. They are located in the Discernment Corridor, which is comprised of the Front Left and Rear Right quadrants of the psyche.

Literal Channel

The Literal Channel is the area within the Perception Corridor dedicated to Literal (detail-based) information. The Literal Powers are Vyy and Vai.

Interpretive Channel

The Interpretive Channel is the area within the Perception Corridor dedicated to Interpretive (pattern-based) information. The Interpretive Powers are Nyy and Nai.

Logic-Based Channel

The Logic-Based Channel is the area within the Discernment Corridor dedicated to Logic-Based (impersonal) decision-making. The Logic-Based Powers are Zyy and Zai.

Values-Based Channel

The Values-Based Channel is the area within the Discernment Corridor dedicated to Values-Based (personal) decision-making. The Values-Based Powers are Xyy and Xai

The Four Priorities

Each quadrant of the psyche is dedicated to a certain kind of activity. These are the Worldview Map, Compass Bearings, Dynamics Mover, and Stimulus Register. Each priority is necessary for human survival, mental functioning, and wholeness. Each one of a human's four conscious powers covers a different one of these priorities.

Worldview Map Priority

The Worldview Map Priority is technically Directive Subjective Perception, both Interpretive and Literal. The Worldview Map is comprised of information coming from the unconscious psyche that is not real-time in nature. This past and future-oriented information provides a kind of map for the psyche to follow and implement. The Worldview Map is located in the Left Rear Quadrant of the psyche, and is comprised of Vai and Nai.

Compass Bearings Priority

The Compass Bearings Priority is technically Adaptive Subjective Discernment, both Values and Logic-Based. The Compass Bearings is comprised of criteria coming from the psyche that are dedicated to maintaining a state of equilibrium and balance. These criteria can be compared to the needle of a compass, as it will always point North no matter how turned around you get. The Compass Bearings is located in the Right Rear Quadrant of the psyche, and is comprised of Zai and Xai.

Dynamics Mover Priority

This is technically Directive Objective Discernment, both Values and Logic-Based. The Dynamics Mover is comprised of criteria for affecting the environment in some way. These criteria can be compared to a steering wheel, as it determines what direction a vehicle will move. The Dynamics Mover is located in the Left Front Quadrant of the psyche, and is comprised of Zyy and Xyy.

Stimulus Register Priority

This is technically Adaptive Objective Perception, both Interpretive and Literal. The Stimulus Register is comprised of information coming from the external environment that is real-time in nature. This currently occurring data connects a person to the exciting, constantly moving external world. The Stimulus Register is located in the Right Front Quadrant of the psyche, and is comprised of Vyy and Nyy.
